Tools
Extend agents with built-in capabilities - search, charts, resource operations, workflow execution, scheduling, and more.
Tools give agents the ability to act, not just answer. When an agent has the Tools capability enabled (see Creating an Agent), it can invoke the tools you allow - searching your data, mutating Resource Items, generating visuals, running workflows, and scheduling recurring jobs.
Enabling tools
- Navigate to Settings → AI → Agents and edit an agent.
- Enable the Tools toggle.
- Use the tool catalog selector that appears to choose exactly which tools this agent may use.
Least privilege
A good default is to grant each agent only the tools its job requires - a reporting agent may only need search and charting, while an operations agent might also create and update Resource Items.
Tool catalog
Built-in tools are organized into the following groups:
| Group | Tools | What they let the agent do |
|---|---|---|
| Analytics | Generate chart, Word cloud | Render charts and word clouds from Resource data, displayed inline in chat or dashboards. |
| Search | List resources, Get resource fields, Document search, Web search, Data search | Discover which Resources exist, inspect their fields, and semantically search documents, web content, and structured data. |
| Content | HTML generation, Presentation generation | Produce styled HTML content and PowerPoint presentations from a prompt. |
| Resources | Create / Update / Delete / Get Resource Item | Mutate your dynamic business records directly from a conversation. |
| Workflows | List workflows, Run workflow | Trigger any of your published workflows on demand. |
| Agents | List agents, Prompt agent | Delegate sub-tasks to other configured agents (up to three levels of delegation deep). |
| Scheduling | Schedule task, List scheduled tasks, Cancel scheduled task | Create recurring tool runs on a CRON schedule on behalf of the user, and manage them. |
Published workflows only
The Run Workflow tool can only start workflows that have been published. See Workflow lifecycle for how publishing works.
In addition to built-in tools, any tools exposed by your connectors (MCP servers) appear in the catalog under their server's name.
Scheduled tasks
When an agent schedules a task for you (e.g. "every weekday at 8am, summarize new tickets"), it becomes a recurring background run owned by your user account:
- Ask your agent to list scheduled tasks to see what's pending.
- Cancel them conversationally at any time ("cancel my Monday report").
- Schedules use standard CRON expressions under the hood, so arbitrary recurrences are supported.
